This is the blog for my masters project at the School of Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of Iowa.

In January 2008 I will be traveling to Damascus, Syria to interview Sabean Mandaeans, a Gnostic religious group forced into exile by the ongoing conflict in Iraq. I plan to spend as much time as possible with them – observing, asking questions and getting their story. While in Damascus, I also plan to talk to as many people around them as possible – Syrians, other Iraqis, aid and NGO workers among others.

I plan to write as much of the story as possible while I am in country.

Upon my return, I will continue to report, write and edit the story.
